Aliza Pilichowski came to Los Angeles on a mission. It was her goal to connect the kids of Los Angeles to their synagogue and Torah. Boy has she shaken things up since arriving. Aliza Pilichowski grew up in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Since she was 12 years old Aliza was involved in education and leadership, by babysitting and beginning all kinds of programs, camps, and activities for kids. Aliza went on to work at HASC (a camp for mentally and physically handicapped children and adults) for three summers, volunteered for Bikur Cholim of Rockland County by running various programs for kids with special needs and organizing weekly trips for kids in the community to visit the hospitals. After completing one and a half years of study at Michlelet Mevaseret Yerushalayim, Aliza and Uri married and moved to Mevaseret Zion. It was there that they became well known for their warm home, hospitality and genuine concern for each of their students in the Yeshiva by providing them with a home away from home. It is this warmth and excitement that they brought to Beth Jacob.
Rabbi Uri and Aliza Pilichowski work on programs for all ages, from toddlers through teenagers and everything in between! They have implemented and continue programs in Beth Jacob that have become staples to our Shul. Read through the youth pages to get a sampling of the programs that they are involved.
